Specializing in Basketmaking and Oil Pastel Painting

Lai
Quon You are welcome to come and watch her create free formed baskets out of natural fibers, such as inflorescence, and Dracaena Draco...most of her materials are gleaned from the grounds of Balboa Park. They have been shown at the San Diego Natural History Museum, The San Diego Art Institute and The Visitor's Center in Balboa Park, and have graced the homes of many families throughout the country.
''Although I really enjoy creating art in the 3rd dimension, I really, really, enjoy creating 2-dimensional art. It is such a freeing feeling''.... and that outlet has been expressed through oil pastels used on canvas. Her subject matter are all kinds of colorful, whimsical, expressive dogs.... all with the intention of bringing smiles to the viewer's face. ''Throughout my life, my most loyal, affectionate and constant companions have been dogs. I have great respect for dogs...and enjoy putting my love for them onto canvas''.
On sunny, warm days, you can watch Lai create dog paintings outside under the carob tree. Dogs are welcome. She provides fresh water and milk-bones if you wish to bring them.
''I love creating art. It feels meditative and sometimes incredibly invigorating! I love evoking emotion from the viewer!''
